Two short films exploring modern digital isolation
Digital Paradox Short Films is a curated collection of narrative and conceptual short films exploring the ultimate irony of the modern era—how technology designed to connect us can ultimately drive us apart. This project brings together two distinct cinematic works produced in 2019: Disconnect to Connect and Cyberculture 🎬🌐
The first film, Disconnect to Connect, is a narrative short that secured 1st Place at the FLS2N 2019 (Jakarta Timur 1) competition 🏆 It charts a high school student's routine across two technological eras, contrasting the warm, face-to-face interactions of the feature-phone era (2007–2009) with the automated, screen-isolated loop of the early smartphone boom (2010–2012). Through repetitive framing and careful pacing, it illustrates how easily shared moments turn into silent digital escapes 📱⏳
The second piece, Cyberculture, deepens this exploration through a conceptual and analytical lens. Guided by a reflective voiceover, the film addresses the modern phenomenon of digital loneliness. It contrasts genuine, unfiltered childhood memories with today's hyper-fixation on followers, likes, and curated online identities. It serves as a stark critique of how we trade quality time for passing time, swapping authentic human glances for a continuous cycle of swiping and typing 📲💔
Combined, this project showcases a cohesive exploration of digital dependency through symbolic visual pacing and thought-provoking editing choices. It acts as both a mirror and a critique of our daily habits, inviting the audience to step away from the illusion of online validation and reclaim authentic human connection in the physical world ✨🤝
I'm currently open for new photo/video projects and creative collaborations.
